Learning built on the Word

A Christ-centered education where every student is known, and every student advances at his or her own pace.

Our Philosophy

Why we teach the way we do

Everything at Mt. Zion rests on a Christian view of the world — that all truth is God’s truth, and that education exists to glorify Him.

  • Ultimate reality is found beyond man, in the triune God who created and now sustains all things.
  • Man is morally dependent upon, and answerable to, a holy God.
  • The Bible is God’s inerrant, authoritative revelation to man — the essence of truth.
  • The goal of Christian education is to glorify God through salvation, maturity, and service.
  • The home and the local church are institutions established by God, and the school exists to support them.

The A.C.E. Curriculum

One student at a time

Mt. Zion uses the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) — School of Tomorrow — curriculum. Rather than moving a whole class at a single speed, each student works through the material at his or her own pace, with a supervisor and monitor close by for help and encouragement.

Skill development, goal setting, reading practice, and character building are woven through every subject, and Biblical principles are integrated throughout — so faith and learning are never kept in separate boxes.

The PACE System

Mastery, one step at a time

Coursework is divided into PACEs — short, self-contained workbooks. There are twelve PACEs per subject in each grade level, from Level 1 (PACE 1001) through Level 12 (PACE 1144). Students typically complete seventy-five or more PACEs a year, adjusted to each child’s ability and motivation.

Diagnostic testing places each new student at the right level. Where there are gaps, students complete a few “gap PACEs” to build a solid foundation before moving ahead.
